It was developed by the Japanese company Dracue, which attracted the composer Kino Yamasita and the artist Zaskun Poppu. The first is known for compositions from Castlevania, and the second – by the World Heroes 2 manga, which is the adaptation of the game of the same name.

Armored Hunter Gunhound was created as a tribute to the ACCH Grams of the 90s, which is why it was made in retro-style. It is a 2-D arcade shooter with side scrolling, where the player controls the fur and fights with various enemies for 5 missions consisting of two or three acts.

According to the plot in a fictional country, there was a war between the United Forces striving to establish a single democratic government, and the regular army of the kingdom, which decided to create a totalitarian independent state. The last side had powerful heavily armed machines that could demolish everything in its path. To resist them, a special mobile detachment of three armored robots was created.

With the full first version of 2009, I could not get to know each other. Nevertheless, a demo version of the first level is still available, where you can familiarize yourself with the features of the game. Before passing in the main menu, you can configure your fur. The machine is armed with a machine gun, reinforced with a rifle and a missile defense system. You can also change the mechanical hand that strikes in close combat. The more points you earn during the game, the more guns will open. You can also configure the color of the armor.

After choosing a mission, a briefing begins, and then a short video is played on the game engine. It usually shows the landing of the detachment to enemy territory. That in the video, that during the passage, dialogs will be conducted between comrades from the detachment, the dispatcher and the main antagonists.

After successful sales in 2009, Dracue began to cooperate with Aqua Blue, which was supposed to help with porting to the PSP console, but soon Aqua Blue was faced with financial difficulties, which was not implemented by the project.

Nevertheless, this was not the end. Porting was taken by Quadra Software, and the game was released on January 31, 2013. I also did not have to get acquainted with this version, so I will dwell on the third reissue that went on the Steam trading platform on May 1, 2014. After all, the new version with PSP was exactly postponed without adding new gameplay functions.

So, what is the difference between Armored Hunter Gunhound Eh from his predecessor? To begin with, the script has undergone small changes. Events occur at the end of the 21st century, when oil reserves were depleted and special neutron polymers were opened, which are an alternative source of energy. Otherwise, the same civil war, where a special detachment of three fur was used.

Also changed the design of the characters and rewritten musical compositions. If earlier in the detachment the soldiers were in the same strict uniform, now they decided to bring uniqueness to each character. For example, the commander has become much more serious, and his face is now covered with scars, and the girl Julian Yuri, who is controlled by the player, on the contrary, has become more vivid and positive. In addition, each dialogue is now voiced, which significantly improves the atmosphere.

Gameplay also modified a little. The air defense system now has two shots, not four, but the most interesting thing is that your fur has become a two -layer. If the armor receives critical damage, then the dispatcher or pilot reports that it is time to drop the upper shell. As a result, after clicking on a specific button, the fur throws off the broken parts, and the health scale is restored again. However, not everything is so simple. The lightweight armor becomes much more maneuverable, but also gets twice as much damage from the same shells.

Occasionally, allied transport helicopters will be landed on the locations. They can drop a first -aid kit or a short -term amplifier that increases the power of attack.

Well, probably, the most important mechanics that I have not yet talked about – this is movement. The developers tried to make the player feel the whole severity of the fur. You can pass the location with ordinary leisurely steps, but the timer will expire, and the treasured glasses can no longer be obtained. And the further, the more maneuverable enemies.

The connected acceleration notly improves the situation, and if you use short -term flights, the game becomes many times more dynamic. Nevertheless, this is not easy. If you turn on the flight too late, then the armor will begin to dive down due to its severity. Half of energy is clearly not enough to sharply raise such a fraud after a small fall.

Some missions take place in complete weightlessness, and this complicates the management even more, although it even becomes more interesting under such conditions. And actually, every mission is trying to differ from another. In one it is necessary to make a simple capture of the base, the next one will have to make a quick descent from the mountain, simultaneously knocking off enemies and dodging the barriers, and in the other you need to constantly maintain the correct position in the air above the water so that helicopters that stole resources from the base of the allies can be shot down.

Plus, each boss has certain vulnerabilities, which you cannot immediately know about. Wrong movements lead to death, but the game is not too cruel. The stage can be replayed again if you agree to continue, but all the points received will be lost. Therefore, if the player clearly went through two levels from the first mission and failed to the boss, then you need to replay only the final battle. Definitely suitable for those who do not want to go to the ideal.

If you summarize, then the game is undoubtedly short, but very bright and memorable. Musical compositions accurately convey the dynamics of what is happening, visual effects delight the eye. It is a pity that there were no continuation and everything ended on the version for Steam.

The game should be held strictly on the gamepad, since on the keyboard everything can end with burning of nerve cells.
